Software engineering · Wandsworth, London SW18
One build at a time, staffed by the people who scoped it. We work with UK companies who have already been let down once and would rather not repeat it.
01 — The studio
Kitscale is run by Tentra Limited, from an office off Spanish Road in Wandsworth.
We started with a rescue. A logistics firm two streets away had a fleet-tracking app that three agencies had touched and none had finished. Drivers were still writing down mileage on paper.
We spent six weeks reading that codebase before we wrote a line of our own. It was not the fastest way to begin, and the client said so. Then it shipped in March, and it has run since without a rewrite.
That job set the shape of the practice. We take one build at a time. The people who scope your work are the people who write it — there is no delivery team waiting behind a slide deck, and nothing is passed offshore at the point it gets difficult.
Most of our work now comes from companies who have already paid for software twice.
Good software is boring on the day it launches. That is the whole ambition.
02 — Engagements
Six ways to work with us. Every one of them starts with a fixed-fee piece of discovery, because a price given before the reading is a guess with a decimal point.
Prices are ex-VAT and hold for thirty days. Fixed-fee quotes follow discovery, never precede it.
03 — Method
Four stages. You see working software in the third week, and you keep everything we make.
Two weeks in your systems and with your staff before anything is estimated. Most of what goes wrong later is visible here.
Everyone in this trade quotes in story points. We quote in dates and hold them, and we tell you the week we think we might slip.
On a real environment you can log into yourself, from week three. No screenshots, no staging server you never get a password for.
Source, documentation, a runbook and a month of us on call. You own the code outright from the day the final invoice clears.
04 — Limits
A studio this size is defined by the work it says no to. Here is ours, in advance, so nobody wastes a meeting.

Our hosting provider, which stores the website and its server logs, and our email provider, which carries the correspondence. Our accountant sees invoicing records. Each acts as a processor under a written agreement. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Our hosting is located in the United Kingdom. Our email provider may process data in the European Economic Area, which is covered by UK adequacy regulations. Should any processor outside the UK or EEA become necessary, we will rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and will update this policy.

Where we rely on your consent — currently only for any analytics you accept through the cookie banner — you may withdraw it at any time by choosing "Decline" in the banner, by clearing this site's data in your browser, or by emailing us. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew.

These terms govern the use of this website and any software development services provided by Tentra Limited, a company registered in England & Wales under company number 17325860, whose registered office is Apartment 4, 5 Spanish Road, London SW18 2HX ("we", "us", "our"). Contact: [email protected], +44 7480 283 916.
Custom software development services for business clients: discovery and technical scoping, web application development, mobile application development, API and platform engineering, remediation of existing codebases, and ongoing engineering retainers.
Not included unless separately agreed in writing: graphic design and brand work, marketing or advertising services, content writing, third-party licence and cloud hosting fees, hardware, and support outside the hours stated in your engagement letter.
Enquiries reach us through the form on this website, by email or by telephone. Nothing on this website is an offer capable of acceptance, and no payment is taken through this website. We issue a written proposal or engagement letter setting out scope, timetable and fees; a contract forms only when you accept that document in writing and we confirm acceptance.
The figures shown on this website are indicative starting prices, exclusive of VAT, and are not a quotation. Written quotations remain valid for 30 days from issue unless stated otherwise. Fixed fees are quoted only after a paid discovery engagement; where work cannot be fixed-priced, it is charged at the day rate stated in your engagement letter.
Unless your engagement letter says otherwise: discovery is invoiced in full on commencement; project work is invoiced monthly in arrears against progress; retainers are invoiced monthly in advance. Invoices are payable within 14 days by bank transfer. Late payment may attract statutory interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Timetables are agreed in the engagement letter and depend on your side of the work: access to systems and staff, decisions returned within the agreed window, and content or data supplied when scheduled. Where a delay is caused on your side, dates move by the length of the delay and we will tell you in writing when that happens. We demonstrate working software on a live environment weekly from week three of a build.
Our services are supplied to businesses. Either party may end an engagement on 30 days' written notice; a retainer may be ended on 30 days' notice expiring at the end of a monthly period. On cancellation you pay for work performed and for committed third-party costs up to the effective date.
Consumers. If you contract with us as a consumer rather than in the course of a business, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of the contract forming, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, without giving a reason. Tell us by email at [email protected]. If you asked us to begin work during that period, you must pay for what we did before you cancelled.
Where you cancel within a cancellation right, we refund sums paid, less the value of work already performed at your request, within 14 days of being told. Where delivered work does not conform to what was agreed, we will correct it; if we cannot correct it within a reasonable time we will refund the fees paid for the non-conforming part. Consumers' statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by anything in these terms.
You retain ownership of everything you give us. We retain ownership of the software we write until the final invoice for that work has been paid in full, at which point all right, title and interest in the bespoke deliverables transfers to you. Pre-existing tools, libraries and internal components we bring to a project remain ours; you receive a perpetual, non-exclusive, irrevocable licence to use them within the delivered software. Third-party open-source components remain governed by their own licences, which we list on handover.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability arising out of an engagement, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, is limited to the total fees paid by you under that engagement in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of anticipated savings, loss of data (beyond our obligation to maintain agreed backups) or any indirect or consequential loss.
Each party keeps the other's confidential information confidential and uses it only for the engagement. This obligation survives the end of the engagement.
If something goes wrong, email [email protected] in the first instance and we will respond within 5 working days. If we cannot resolve it between us within 30 days, both parties agree to attempt mediation through a recognised mediation provider before starting court proceedings. Nothing prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief.
These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
We may update these terms; the version in force is the one published here on the date your engagement letter is signed. The "last updated" date above shows when this version was published.
